this girlchild was born as usual

and presented doll that did pee-pee

and miniature GE stoves and irons

and wee lipsticks the color of cherry candy.

then in the magic of puberty, a classmate said:

you have a great big nose and fat legs.

 

she was healthy, tested intelligent,

possessed strong arms and back,

abundant sexual drive and manual dexterity.

everyone saw a fat nose on thick legs.

 

she was adviced to play coy,

exhorted to come on hearty,

exercise, diet, smile and wheedle.

her good nature wore out

like a fan belt

so she cut off her nose and her legs

and offered them up.

 

in the casket displayed on satin she lay

with the undertaker`s cosmetics painted on,

a turned-up putty nose,

dressed in a pink and white nightie.

doesn`t she look pretty? everyone said.

consummation at last.

to every woman a happy ending.

자상해지라고

운동하고, 다이어트하고 웃고 비위를 맞추라고 충고 받았다.

그녀의 좋은 본성은

fan belt처럼 벗어던져졌다.

그래서 그녀는 그녀의 코와 다리를 잘랐다.

그리고 그들을 들쳐올렸다.

 

수의를 입은 그녀가 관 속에 누워있다.

기획자의 화장품이 발린채로.

잘려진 코가 한껏 올려진 채

핑크색, 흰색 잡옷을 입고.

그녀가 예쁘지 않니? 모두들 말했다.
