TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth;

 

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same,

 

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

 

I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I —

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

단풍 든 숲 속에 두 갈래 길이 있었습니다

몸이 하나니 두 길을 가지 못하는 것을

안타까워하며, 한참을 서서

낮은 수풀로 꺾여 내려가는 한쪽 길을

멀리 끝까지 바라다보았습니다

 

그리고 다른 길을 택했습니다,

똑같이 아름답고,

아마 더 걸어야 될 길이라 생각했지요

풀이 무성하고 발길을 부르는 듯했으니까요

그 길도 걷다 보면 지나간 자취가

두 길을 거의 같도록 하겠지만요

 

그날 아침 두 길은 똑같이 놓여 있었고

낙엽 위로는 아무런 발자국도 없었습니다

아, 나는 한쪽 길은 훗날을 위해 남겨 놓았습니다!

길이란 이어져 있어 계속 가야만

한다는 걸 알기에

다시 돌아올 수 없을 거라 여기면서요

 

오랜 세월이 지난 후 어디에선가

나는 한숨지으며 이야기할 것입니다

숲 속에 두 갈래 길이 있었고, 나는-

사람들이 적게 간 길을 택했다고

그리고 그것이 내 모든 것을 바꾸어 놓았다고
